Bermuda Race

McMichael Yacht Yards & Brokers
2020 Bermuda Race Sponsor

Dateline Newport, RI
March 23, 2020

Due to the world health crisis, the Organizing Committee for the 2020 Newport-to-Bermuda Race has cancelled the race.

As a sponsor for the 2020 Bermuda Race, McMichael Yacht Yards & Brokers had been hosting a series of sailor seminars with a Bermuda Race focus. The third and final semnar was scheduled for this week but is being postposed until sometime in April at which time it will be live streamed for anyone looking to watch it.

Why still have this seminar? While it was Bermuda Race in design, the topic (Navigation & Weather) translates to all sailing, all races, and all sailors. We all look forward to this online presentation by Bermuda Race winning navigator HL deVore.

More information on this seminar livecast will be posted when plans are set. In the meantime, if you have any questions or comments, please contact us at

Getting your boat, your sails, and all your gear ready for a 635-mile ocean race is where you start...but don't overlook the human side of winning the Newport Bermuda Race. With the prospect of being at sea for more days than you'd like (there have been some slow races as you recall), you need to consider how to prepare your crew and keep them focused for the duration. During this seminar, you'll hear from Bermuda Race veterans on crew-based subjects as diverse as:

Perhaps the least glamorous of our three seminars, what you'll learn about the human side of this race may make the difference between being on the podium or in the crowd.
