The J/44 is one of the most successful large offshore yacht designs ever produced, with a total of nearly 70 boats launched. The J/44 is one of the best buys on the offshore performance cruising market. Few designs share her speed, comfort and ease of handling.
Southern Cross has been modified with a sugar scoop designed by Rod Johnstone. The scoop adds a spacious swim platform and a feature the original design really needed. Her full cherry interior gives her a warm feel below decks; numerous hatches and opening portlights offer great ventilation. She shows in very good condition and has been lovingly maintained by her second owner who purchased her at a few seasons old.

OWNER'S COMMENTS: J/Boats designed these vessels for live-aboard comfort with a manageable sail plan and durability that has made the J/44 earn such a incredible reputation as true yachtsman's yacht. This J/44 has been well maintained by its current and prior owners (a 3-owner boat from new) and is currently set-up as an exceptionally fast, safe and comfortable vessel, and features a number of custom upgrades specifically oriented towards cruising comfort, such as the addition of her Rod Johnstone-designed 'sugar scoop' transom. The highly customized, light weight, full teak interior provides a warm, yachty ambiance, while the quality TPI construction provides a solid feel when at sea. An extremely competitive IMS racing yacht with numerous Mediterranean trophies to her name, she is also a great PHRF racer. Her freshly varnished 2" teak toe rails and hand holds provide just the right amount of bright work to compliment the dark blue hull with gold cove stripe and white boot stripes. She is a beautiful vessel that will make any sailor proud.
